Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at farmhousenashville@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. At its heart, a CSA is a relationship—between families, farmers, the land, and the food that sustains us.

We believe this is one of the best ways for families to eat food that is healthy, nourishing, and truly life-giving. By joining a CSA, you are choosing to eat seasonally, to know where your food comes from, and to support the farmers who grow it with care and integrity.

Why does local food matter?

Local food allows you to stay connected—to the land, to the seasons, and to the people growing your food. Fruits and vegetables are harvested at peak ripeness, not picked early to survive long-distance shipping or stored in artificial environments. The result is food that tastes better and offers greater nutritional value.

Knowing who grows your food—and how it is grown—matters. Transparency and trust are central to what we do.

How is your food grown?

We are deeply committed to growing food in healthy, living soil. We believe healthy soil produces resilient plants, and resilient plants grow nourishing food. Just as people thrive when properly nourished, plants are naturally more disease-resistant when grown in soil rich with beneficial microbes and nutrients.

We welcome beneficial insects and believe they play an essential role in a thriving farm ecosystem. Our approach to farming is rooted in stewardship—treating the land, our farmers, and our members with the same care and respect we would want for ourselves.

Do you use chemicals or sprays?

Our goal is to grow food as naturally as possible. We strive not to use anything on our crops that is not found in nature. When intervention is absolutely necessary, we may use some naturally approved sprays, but only as a last resort. Transparency and integrity guide every decision we make.

Why choose a CSA in today’s world?

In a fast-moving and often uncertain world, choosing a CSA is a way to slow down and reconnect with something steady and tangible. While much feels out of our control, knowing your farmer, understanding how your food is grown, and supporting local agriculture is something you can choose.

We believe farming is a high calling. Growing food for families is a responsibility we take seriously, and we consider it an honor to nurture the land and provide nourishment for your table.

We invite you to come alongside us—supporting local farmers, caring for the land, and sharing in the harvest. This is a hopeful and meaningful way to live, grow, and eat well.

Actually, it is a myth that Amish and Mennonite farmers are organic or chemical free.  Only two farmers in the community we connected with are growing using chemical free/sustainable farming practices. After months of searching, I discovered Golden Rule farm growing against the "grain"  of the community. They were convinced and convicted that organic farming was the only way to grow nourishing, flavorful foods that would heal not only our bodies, but the land.

We deliver to the following locations in Middle TN:

Tuesdays: Sumner County, North and South Mt. Juliet, Hermitage, Donelson, North and South Rutherford County and Home Delivery in Wilson county.

Thursdays: Lebanon, East Nashville, 12th South/Belmont, Franklin and Home Delivery in Davidson and Williamson counties.

We offer a $25 Farm Share, available for weekly or every-other-week delivery. Each share is thoughtfully built around what’s in season and can be customized to fit your family’s preferences.

Eating with the seasons is one of the simplest and most natural ways to support your health, and our shares reflect what is growing fresh in the fields each week. If your family needs more produce, you can easily add extra items when you customize your delivery.

We also offer a selection of locally sourced add-ons, allowing you to choose exactly what your household will use. Our goal is to provide flexibility—so you receive food you love, avoid waste, and enjoy the harvest fully.

We grow based on the seasons. In the spring we offer lettuces, spring onions, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet peas, strawberries, new potatoes, some early zucchini, garlic, cilantro, thyme, oregano, mustard greens, cabbage, swiss chard and more.

In the summer, we typically grow sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, beets, carrots, peppers, onions, watermelon, cantaloupe, herbs, kale, green beans, blackberries, concord grapes, cucumbers, and more.

In the fall we have winter squashes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, lettuce, kale, figs, apples, pears, onions, peppers, swiss chard, herbs, garlic, potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash and more.
