End of the Season!

Posted 10/7/2019 11:25am by Stephanie Bradshaw.

Good Morning!

We are feeling exceptionally thankful for this cool, wet Monday morning!  Our prayers have been heard -we are praising the Lord for this much needed rain!

We hope you have enjoyed the Zipper Cream peas that we've sent over the last several weeks.  They are easy to shell and cook up so quickly in stock. Our family has enjoyed zipper creams, turnip greens, slaw and green beans the past several weeks.  I believe I could live off these yummy plants! We love to cook the turnip greens in stock - cook them down to where they are dark green.  They are delicious with mashed potatoes too!  Eat the greens we are sending - they are chopped full of nutrients your body needs!

The hibiscus roselles are also a favorite around here.  Have you tried making this delicious tea?  If not, you are missing out!  You can read more about this beautiful, healthy tea here:  Hibiscus tea

Our Harvest Report for Week 23 looks something like this:  Mustard Greens, sweet potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, onions, spaghetti squash or butternut squash, hot peppers, zucchini, micro-greens and cherry tomatoes.  Please remember this is our best guess and may look different once we start picking!

Our CSA season begins in May and runs for 24 weeks....it is hard to believe that we are down to the last two weeks of the season.  The final deliveries for our weekly and bi-weekly B folks will be Tuesday October 15th and Thursday October 17th.

Please make plans to attend our end of the season Family Farm Day on October 26th.  It will be a wonderful day to meet the Brubaker family and see where your food is grown.  The Brubakers are a Mennonite family and do not use electricity or modern conveniences.  The community where they live is a wonderful place to visit.  We will enjoy wagon rides around the farm, pony cart rides and more.  There will also be more veggies available for you to pick and take home.  Pack a lunch and join us!  The address is 612 Shores Road, Scottsville KY.

Cheers to Healthy Eating,

Farmhouse Nashville Team
